Copyright belongs to the presenter unless it was contracted by a third party, in which case it rests with that third party.

All content on the EduTalks website or shared in any webinar is copyrighted. It may only be used with permission from EduTalks and from the presenter.

Content is available for a minimum of 12 months. After that, it stays on EduTalks as long as the presenter allows. In most cases, talks stay online indefinitely or until the content is no longer relevant.

Yes. Presenters can update their talks and presentations on the platform at any time.

Access is limited to registered healthcare professionals and healthcare students. Lay people are not allowed to register on the EduTalks platform or webinars.

Yes. CPD activities work well on most smart devices. On Apple devices:

  • You may need to close and reopen the video window to resume playback after pausing.
  • If you have any issues, please email info@medtalkz.com.

CPD

Yes. EduTalks has been accredited by the South African Medical Association (SAMA) as a CPD provider for the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

You can earn CPD points by:

  • Attending live webinars.
  • Completing online courses.
  • Watching CPD-accredited talks on the EduTalks platform.

For webinars, points are based on how long you actively attend. To earn CPD points you must be a registered EduTalks user.

We sometimes offer free CPD events, but most CPD activities require an active subscription or pay-as-you-go credits.

Yes. Presenters earn CPD points based on the length of their lecture and for uploading their talks onto the EduTalks platform.

Presenters must be registered on EduTalks for their CPD to be processed.

Follow these steps:

  • Login to EduTalks.
  • Select “Show my Profile”“My CPD points”.
  • To generate a summary for a date range, enter the dates and select “Generate”.

Make sure your profile information is correct and up to date so that your CPD is recorded correctly.

No. Watching many talks and webinars may be free, but earning CPD points from them usually requires an active subscription or credits, unless they are clearly marked as free CPD.

For your points to be allocated and sent to the HPCSA, you must either:

  • Have an active EduTalks CPD subscription, or
  • Use pay-as-you-go EduTalks Credits for CPD allocation.

HPCSA

Yes. CPD points earned by HPCSA-registered health professionals are automatically submitted to the HPCSA by EduTalks, if your account details are correct and you meet the subscription/credit requirements.

EduTalks sends the total CPD points for the previous month at the start of the next month. For example, points from February are sent to the HPCSA in the first week of March.

  • If the certificate icon next to the talk title is blue, then it has been uploaded.
  • You can also check your HPCSA profile directly.
  • The HPCSA may email you a receipt of CPD points.

Common reasons:

  • The points may not have been submitted yet (they are sent at the beginning of the next month).
  • The HPCSA did not recognise your registration number (prefix and/or 7-digit number).

Please confirm that your details on EduTalks are correct. If they are correct and the month has passed, email info@medtalkz.com for help.

Over a 2-year period, HPCSA-registered professionals need 60 CPD points:

  • 50 Clinical CPD points.
  • 10 Ethics CPD points.

Earning CPD from webinars

Webinar points are based on duration:

  • 15–60 minutes: 1 CPD point.
  • Longer than 60 minutes: 1 CPD point per 60 minutes (or part thereof).

It depends on the total duration. On average, most EduTalks webinars offer around 2 CPD points.

Yes. CPD certificates are emailed to you and can also be downloaded from your EduTalks profile:

  • Go to “Your Profile”“My CPD” → click the CPD event to download the certificate.
